INTERKULTURA is a non-governmental, professional and interdisciplinary association that was founded in Zagreb in 1995. In 2004. it was preregistered in Interculture - The Intercultural Centre, dealing within the nongovernmental sector. It has also the permanent cooperation with the similar intercultural associations and institutes abroad, international and regional intercultural organizations and networks, such as ACC, Interface, OBESSU, UNITED, Crossing Borders, EFIL etc.
INTERKULTURA has realized significant intercultural projects, has organized conferences, seminars, round tables and workshops concerning intercultural topics. Interkultura also published three intercultural/multicultural monographs about condition of young people in multicultural community, 15 editions of Intercultural magazine and several related publications.

INTERKULTURA has been working on both theory and practice of interculturalism and intercultural education since it was founded 13 years ago. Through its projects and activities, that had for the goal the promotion of interculturalism within democracy processes and development of civil society, young people were actually Interkultura's main target. By exploring results of various scientific researches, foreign experiences as well as through direct work with people, Interkultura made the conclusion that young people were often wrongly informed regarding interculturalism and its role in the democratic society.
